1 – Biden takes victory lap after Sinema backs climate and healthcare spending bill
The Washington Examiner reports: After a year of negotiations, President Joe Biden celebrated securing the 50th and final Senate Democratic vote he required to wrangle a watered-down version of his signature climate and healthcare spending bill through Congress.
In a statement released by the White House, Biden described Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) agreeing to support the Inflation Reduction Act, proposed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) last week, as “another critical step” toward decreasing the cost of living for America’s families.”
“The Inflation Reduction Act will help Americans save money on prescription drugs, health premiums, and much more,” Biden wrote Thursday night. “It will make our tax system more fair by making corporations pay a minimum tax.”
Biden added, “It also makes the largest investment in history in combating climate change and increasing energy security, creating jobs here in the US and saving people money on their energy costs.”

After a week of sending smoke signals, Sinema released a statement saying she was prepared to work with Sen. Mark Warner (D-VA) in particular to enact carried interest tax reforms, “protecting investments in America’s economy and encouraging continued growth” while “closing the most egregious loopholes that some abuse to avoid paying taxes.”

MY TAKE: It’s not a victory for America!
2 – China retaliates against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her visit to Taiwan: ‘Gross interference’
Fox News reports: China has announced sanctions against House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and her family, following her visit to Taiwan which China strongly condemned.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson announced the sanctions on Friday, calling Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan an “egregious provocation” and a “gross interference” into the country’s internal affairs.
“In disregard of China’s grave concerns and firm opposition, Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi insisted on visiting China’s Taiwan region. This constitutes a gross interference in China’s internal affairs,” the spokesperson said. “It gravely undermines China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, seriously tramples on the one-China principle, and severely threatens peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.”
“In response to Pelosi’s egregious provocation, China decides to adopt sanctions on Pelosi and her immediate family members in accordance with relevant laws of the People’s Republic of China,” they added.
The statement was also shared by CCTV News, a state media outlet, and on China’s own social media platform Weibo.
“They will not isolate Taiwan by preventing us to travel there.”

MY TAKE: And what did America get out of Pelosi’s stunt? NOTHING. That trip did not benefit you or I ONE BIT.
3 – NEW JOBS REPORT: Payrolls increased 528,000 in July, much better than expected
CNBC reports: Hiring in July was far better than expected, defying signs that the economic recovery is losing steam, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported Friday.
Nonfarm payrolls rose 528,000 for the month and the unemployment rate was 3.5%, easily topping the Dow Jones estimates of 258,000 and 3.6% respectively.
Wage growth also surged higher, as average hourly earnings jumped 0.5% for the month and 5.2% from the same time a year ago. Those numbers add fuel to an inflation picture that already has consumer prices rising at their fastest rate since the early 1980s.
Markets initially reacted negatively to the report, with Dow Jones futures down more than 120 points.

MY TAKE: For sure, Biden will take another victory lap over this, but we’re no where NEAR where we were when Trump was in the Oval Office. Just as predicted in the DML Podcast this week, the Biden administration is going to do just enough to try to make the numbers look good leading up to the November election.

5 – Transgender Researcher Was Funded by Puberty Blocker Manufacturer
Breitbart reports: A company that sells puberty-blocking drugs funded the co-author of a study that recommends transgender medical treatments for children before puberty.
The study, titled “Sex Assigned at Birth Ratio Among Transgender and Gender Diverse Adolescents in the United States,” was authored by Jack Turban, Brett Dolotina, Dana King, and Alex Keuroghlian.
The study was highlighted by NBC and defends what it refers to as “gender-affirming medical care” for children, which can consist of halting puberty, injecting cross-sex hormones, or amputating fully functional body parts.
The study concludes that “The sex assigned at birth ratio of TGD adolescents in the United States does not appear to favor AFAB adolescents and should not be used to argue against the provision of gender-affirming medical care for TGD adolescents,” effectively arguing against the “social contagion” theory.
The social contagion theory states that children may begin to identify as transgender because of social conditioning and suggests that girls may be more susceptible to this phenomenon.
Turban, one of the authors of the study, is a vocal pro-trans activist and has defended Drag Queen Story Hour and received compensation from a company that makes a drug that is used off label as a puberty blocker.
Children growing up with drag queen story time will learn to not fear, hate, or attack innocent #LGBTQ people.
