1 – Newly unearthed documents reveal early DNA bombshell in Ramsey slaying
Fox News reports: Unearthed documents from early in the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation show DNA evidence recovered under her fingernails and clothes was not a match for members of the family and others close to the case just weeks after the crime.

But police for years continued to float the possibility that her parents were under “an umbrella of suspicion” in the gruesome slaying, a new book on late Colorado investigator Lou Smit, who worked the case, argues in its opening pages.

“Lou and JonBenet: A Legendary Lawman’s Quest to Solve a Child Beauty Queen’s Murder,” by John W. Anderson, a former El Paso County sheriff-turned-author, is scheduled for publication by WildBlue Press on Feb. 28.

“For the past quarter-century, the Boulder police have ignored the DNA evidence that exonerated the Ramseys and could be used to identify her killer,” Anderson argues in the book.

The documents were retrieved from Smit’s files, which his family shared with a team of investigators. Smit, a Colorado Springs detective, came out of retirement in 1997 at the request of the Boulder County District Attorney’s Office to look into the JonBenet case.

ANNETA G: The case was messed up from the start. Will this poor family EVER get justice?

2 – Walmart to close some ‘underperforming’ stores in 3 states
The Hill reports: Nearly half a dozen Walmart locations are set to close in the coming weeks, just two months after the retail chain’s CEO warned stores could close amid an uptick in shoplifting.

A Walmart in southeast Albuquerque, New Mexico, is set to close within a month, a company spokesperson confirmed to Nexstar’s KRQE. The company described the store as “underperforming” but noted that several factors contribute to the decision to close a location.

Walmart is also preparing to close a store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to local reporting, and three stores in the Chicago area. Nexstar’s WGN reports two of the stores in Chicago did not meet financial expectations.

In December, CEO Doug McMillon warned Walmart could close stores and raise prices due to historically high rates of theft at stores.

ANNETA G: Welcome to Biden’s America, where criminals are allowed to run wild and stores have to close.  Pathetic!

3 – Same-Sex Marriages to Receive Blessings in the Church of England
Breitbart reports: Same-sex marriages will receive “prayers for God’s blessing” for the first time in the Church of England following a vote at the General Synod, the legislative body of the established church of England.

On Thursday, the three houses of the Synod voted in favour of officially recognising gay marriages for the first time, with priests now being empowered to give their blessings to such unions.

The vote was overwhelmingly approved by the House of Bishops, which supported the measure by a margin of 36 to four, with two members of the house abstaining from the vote. However, the issue was far more contested amongst the lower houses of the Synod, with the House of Clergy backing the measure by a vote of 111 to 85, with three abstentions, and by the House of Laity which supported the move by a margin of  103 to 92, with five abstaining members.

In a joint statement, the two most senior bishops in the Church, Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and Stephen Cottrell, the Archbishop of York said: “It has been a long road to get us to this point.

ANNETA: That video above is worth a watch! Wow!  Plus… this is the same church who just days ago announced they are considering referring to God in “non-gendered” terms during services.  Unbelievable!

4 – Jason Miller returns as adviser for Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign
CBS News reports: Jason Miller, a former top adviser to former President Donald Trump, will rejoin Trump’s campaign for his 2024 presidential run, Miller confirmed to CBS News Thursday.

Miller, who worked in a senior capacity in both Trump’s 2016 and 2020 campaigns, will step away from his chief executive role at GETTR, the conservative social media platform, he disclosed.

Miller said he will serve as a senior adviser focused on strategy. Politico first reported the news.

“I will of course remain engaged with the GETTR platform and its user base in an emeritus position,” Miller said in a statement.” But my focus going forward will be helping President Trump return to the White House.”

Miller was an integral part of Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign team, but following Trump’s victory, he chose not to join Trump’s administration, at the time turning down the post of White House communications director.

ANNETA G: From all I’ve seen, Jason Miller is a good person.

5 – 200 Firefighters Battle Massive 5-Alarm Fire At Grocery Store
The Daily Caller reports: A massive fire erupted in a Bronx grocery store Thursday night. Two-hundred firefighters were called to battle the flames.

The blaze began at approximately 5:30 p.m. when the C-Town Supermarket was full of shoppers. A vigilant employee noticed smoke coming from the top of the building near some wires, allowing customers and employees to rush to safety before the fire developed into a 5-alarm inferno, NBC 4 New York reported.

As the fire grew, 50 units comprised of 200 firefighters and EMS personnel were called to the scene in a battle to keep the fire from spreading to the neighboring gas station. The building next to the supermarket was evacuated with many of the residents telling News 12 The Bronx that they were devastated by the loss of their local store.

ANNETA G: Horrible!! Hope they can rebuild!
