Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell on Tuesday would not promise a vote on President Donald Trump’s nomination to the Supreme Court before the election.

McConnell said he would wait for the person to come out of Senate Judiciary Committee hearings and then set the date for the vote on the Senate floor.

The article goes on to state the following:

‘When the nomination comes out of committee, then I’ll decide when and how to proceed,’ he said after the Senate Republicans’ lunch on Capitol Hill Tuesday.

“Our Senate majority will do exactly the same thing in 2020 that we did in 2016: Follow Senate history, follow the clear precedent in each situation, and do exactly the job we were elected to do. We are going to vote on President Trump’s nominee to the Supreme Court this year,” McConnell vowed in a Twitter post Tuesday afternoon.

The leader added in another tweet, “Democrats are threatening to attack the foundations of the Senate and the Court if they do not get their way. Here’s the problem with this attempted blackmail: They have already been making these threats for many months. They’ve been campaigning on them for over a year.”

  1. Just get the vote done. Don’t want to wait around to see what else the Dems may try to pull out of their hat. Need Trump to focus on the election and debates. Mitch you need to focus on a bill to include stimulus. Durham and Barr will be doing something as well.

  2. The nominee must be confirmed BEFORE the election… There is going to be chaos as more crucial swing states allow mail in ballots to be counted well after November 3rd… There will very likely be a flurry of legal challenges so we need a 9 person SCOTUS to be able to rule on any election issues…
