Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis, wife of Gov. Ron DeSantis, has completed her final chemotherapy treatment, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in October.
The Orlando Sentinel reported on Thursday:
Florida First Lady Casey DeSantis completed her final round of chemotherapy Wednesday in her fight against breast cancer, Gov. Ron DeSantis said.
“She ran that gauntlet,” DeSantis said at an event Thursday in Bowling Green, about 60 miles southeast of Tampa, announcing a new workforce funding program. “ … She’s doing well, and we look forward to continue to have good news over the ensuing weeks and months.”
“It’s not the most fun thing to see someone go through,” DeSantis said. “But at the end of the day, she’s fought really hard. We think she’s responded very well. I mean, she’s still got more stuff to do. But that’s a big milestone because it’s nasty stuff when they’re doing that.”
Mrs. DeSantis shared a video of the governor’s remarks and tweeted, “Thank you for being by my side from the beginning, but especially yesterday as we celebrated my FINAL Chemo Treatment together. I’m grateful, very humbled and blessed.”

On Friday, Casey shared a photo of a bell and explained, “This is the bell I rang for my final Chemo Treatment. It is now happily the property of the Governor’s Mansion (as are the wonderful motivational and inspirational books we’ve been sent along the way, thank you). Hopefully, their display will symbolize hope, humility and faith.”
