Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte ended his state’s participation in federal COVID-19 unemployment programs and announced the start of a new state program to give people “Return to Work” bonuses.

Gianforte announced the move to pull his state out of federal pandemic-related unemployment assistance programs and returning to the “pre-pandemic” unemployment eligibility requirements by the end of June in a press release Tuesday.

The article goes on to state the following:

“Montana is open for business again, but I hear from too many employers throughout our state who can’t find workers,” Gianforte said in a press release. “Nearly every sector in our economy faces a labor shortage.”

Gianforte said in a Twitter post, “Industries across Montana face a severe labor shortage. We must create incentives for Montanans to get back into the workforce. Today I announced Montana will end participation in federal pandemic-related unemployment programs and launch a “Return to Work” bonus program.”

Gianforte also announced on Twitter Tuesday, “Today at Golden Triangle Brew Co. in Fort Benton, I proudly signed the BIG Jobs Act which relieves thousands of small businesses of the burden of paying taxes on their business equipment.”

“Working together with the legislature, we’ve made great progress to reform our tax system so Montana’s Main Street businesses can thrive. I thank Rep. Josh Kassmier (R-Fort Benton) for his leadership on this bill in the legislature,” he added.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey also announced an executive order to get people in his state off of unemployment and back to work on Monday. Ducey said he has resumed the requirement that anyone collecting unemployment must prove they are actively seeking a job.

“A year out from the start of the pandemic, jobs and vaccines are readily available,” Ducey said in a statement. “Arizonans are ready to get back to work. Our economy is booming, jobs need filling, more than 2 million Arizonans are fully vaccinated, and vaccination appointments are available to anyone who wants one.”

  1. Democrats love hearing their aren’t enough employees. Gives them the proof we need illegal immigrants here to work. Something like slaves. The democrats say Americans don’t want to work. I think most were happy when Trump swung the wand.

  2. New when I read the headline that it wasn’t a democrat governor. Kind of sad to know conservatives are about work and Democrats are about handouts so you don’t want to work. Fits the narrative to let illegals in the country.

  3. Good move! All the states governors should do this! Get the people back to work and not depending on unemployment checks, as that will dry up eventually!

  4. I’m all for requiring people to work but not at the expense of requiring mandatory, so called vaccine, in order to work. That should be a choice.

  5. why you wait the end of JUNE if you can do it Now my next door to me not even finish high school she still unemployment ever since..i lost my job during looters administration so let everyones a warning before election if criminal democrat will win ..if you are bad luck you will lost your job ..they will supporting you , your drugs addiction , stay home just drink alcoholic likes Pelosi makes 6 children i guarantee she doesn’t know who rides her boat because she drunk..

  6. If governors all over don’t start doing it there will still be a shortage of workers. It’s sad when people are too lazy to work but anyone making more money staying at home aren’t going to work. The extra unemployment money needs to stop. I hope other governors follow his lead. Good job for him

  7. I hardly leave a response, however i did a few searching and wound up here NEWS ALERT: GOP governor pulls out of COVID federal unemployment programs, touts
