After mulling a run for Senate or governor next year in Georgia, former Republican Rep. Doug Collins has decided to sit on the sidelines during the 2022 election cycle.

“I’m announcing today that I will not be a candidate for any office in the next election cycle,” the former four-term congressman said Monday on Twitter.

The article goes on to state the following:

In an accompanying statement, Collins said “this is goodbye for now, but probably not forever. I do plan on staying involved in shaping our conservative message to help Republicans win back the House and Senate and help more strong, conservative candidates get elected here in Georgia.”

In his statement, Collins said, “I believe that we, as conservatives, must be able to clearly communicate our values, and I will help keep that fight going.”

According to the report, a source close to Collins told Fox News that Collins said he’d “left everything on the table last cycle” and that it was “time for somebody else to step up and run for statewide office.”

The source added, “There are some private sector opportunities that are developing that he feels like he can take advantage of.”

  1. I’m sorry to loose you Doug Collins, but I honestly can’t blame you for it. Anyone with the strength to go in now, must sport thick skin!

  2. I am so sad to hear that Rep..Collins will not be running again. Loved him for his integrity. He is a brilliant man. Will be sadly missed. I wish we had him in NC. We always lose the good ones.

  3. I agree with the statements made above. Although I am just recently moved back to the great state of TX after a move to MD, I still recognize what we need are great representation in our local, state & federal governments. We really need term limits as we have with our presidents. We get people in off ice who get their heads filled with power and they think their little gods and forget they have a job to do for their constituents. It’s truly disgusting. God bless him in his future endeavors!
