Yum Brands, the parent company of Taco Bell, KFC, and Pizza Hut, has partnered with Nvidia to integrate artificial intelligence into its restaurant operations. The collaboration aims to enhance AI-powered order-taking, restaurant analytics, and computer vision technology across its chains. Yum has already tested Nvidia’s AI solutions in select Taco Bell and Pizza Hut locations and plans to expand to over 500 restaurants by the second quarter of 2025. This move follows a broader trend in the fast-food industry, with competitors like McDonald’s and Wendy’s also adopting AI to reduce labor costs and boost efficiency.

The AI enhancements will focus on practical improvements: streamlining drive-thru and kiosk order-taking, increasing order accuracy with computer vision, optimizing staff schedules based on traffic patterns, and automating supply orders to minimize waste. Yum’s existing Byte platform, which integrates its tech operations, will leverage Nvidia’s hardware to scale these capabilities. The company operates over 61,000 locations worldwide, making this one of the largest AI rollouts in the restaurant sector to date.
