Plane crash kills three in Florida
In this DML Report…
A Cessna 310 carrying three people crashed in Boca Raton, Florida, on April 11, at approximately 10:20 a.m., shortly after departing from Boca Raton Airport en route to Tallahassee International Airport. The crash occurred near Military Trail and Glades Road, close to Interstate 95 and Tri-Rail tracks, killing all three onboard. The pilot had reported rudder issues and was attempting to return to the airport, with flight data showing the plane circling before it went down. The aircraft struck a vehicle on the ground, injuring the driver, who sustained non-life-threatening injuries after crashing into a tree.
The crash caused a fireball, scattering debris across the area and prompting a swift response from Boca Raton Fire Rescue and Police. North Military Trail remains closed between Northwest 19th Street and Butts Road, and the Interstate 95 overpass at Glades Road is shut down in both directions. Tri-Rail established a bus bridge between Deerfield Beach and Boca Raton stations due to track obstruction. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are investigating, with mechanical issues cited as a likely factor based on preliminary reports.

No identities of the victims have been released, and the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the crash. Authorities have advised the public to avoid the area, with road closures expected to persist. Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer expressed condolences, noting the city’s gratitude for the rapid response of emergency services. The airport was briefly closed but has since reopened, while the NTSB continues to collect evidence, including flight data and wreckage analysis, to piece together the events leading to the incident.
