Sick and twisted conspiracy theories develop over high school student’s murder

In this DML Report…
7-year-old Austin Metcalf, a junior at Frisco Memorial High School in Texas, was fatally stabbed in the chest by Karmelo Anthony, also 17, during a track meet at David Kuykendall Stadium. The incident stemmed from a seating dispute, escalating when Metcalf prompted Anthony to move him, causing Anthony to pull a knife from his backpack and stab Metcalf in the heart before fleeing. Anthony was arrested within 15 minutes, charged with murder, and held on a $1 million bond. He admitted to the act, telling police, “I’m not alleged, I did it,” and claimed self-defense, alleging Metcalf touched him after a warning. Metcalf died despite efforts by his twin brother Hunter and first responders to save him.

Austin Metcalf was a standout linebacker, football team MVP, and National Honor Society member with a 4.0 GPA, known as a leader among peers. His father, Jeff Metcalf, reported Austin died in Hunter’s arms, who witnessed the stabbing and tried to stop the bleeding. The Frisco Police Department’s arrest report detailed a witness account of Anthony issuing a threat—“Touch me and see what happens”—before the attack. The Frisco Independent School District called it an “unprecedented situation,” offering counseling to students. A GoFundMe by Jeff Metcalf has raised over $30,000 for funeral costs and a football facility in Austin’s honor.

Online, X posts have fueled speculation, with some claiming a fake Collin County Medical Examiner report listed Metcalf’s death as a drug overdose from MDMA and a fentanyl analog, with stab wounds secondary—a narrative contradicting official police statements. Others allege racial motives, noting Metcalf was white and Anthony black, though no evidence supports this, and police confirm the dispute was over seating. The Frisco community mourns Metcalf, remembered by teammate Gavin Stites as “a brother,” while authorities maintain the incident was a tragic altercation, not a conspiracy. Jeff Metcalf told Fox 4 his son’s death was murder, emphasizing Austin’s bright future, cut short at a school event.
