Is Cholesterol really bad, what does Brecka say?

In this DML Report…
Gary Brecka, a human biologist, often challenges mainstream views pushed by pharmaceutical companies. He argues that cholesterol isn’t the villain it’s made out to be. Unlike drug companies, which heavily promote statins to lower cholesterol levels, Brecka emphasizes that cholesterol is essential for hormone production, cell membrane health, and brain function. He claims the narrative linking high cholesterol directly to heart disease is oversimplified and driven by profit motives for statin drugs.

Brecka suggests that instead of focusing on total cholesterol, we should look at specific markers like LDL particle size, HDL/LDL ratios, and inflammation levels (e.g., C-reactive protein). He advocates for lifestyle changes—diet, exercise, stress management—over medication, arguing that statins can disrupt natural bodily processes and cause side effects like muscle pain or liver issues. He also points out that low cholesterol can be linked to issues like poor mental health or hormonal imbalances, which drug companies rarely address.
