Speculation continues to grow on which Republican candidates will run for the presidency in an effort to take back the Oval Office in 2024.
Former President Donald Trump has not ruled out running again himself, and when asked in a recent interview with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, as to whether we could hope to see him run again, he confirmed there is hope.
Trump has stated multiple times that his first focus is on helping Republicans to win back the majority in the House and the Senate in 2022.
Former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley is also widely believed to be considering a run. During a Fox News interview Wednesday morning, when asked if she will run for the presidency in 2024, Haley also stressed the importance of the 2022 races, and suggested everyone should follow her Stand For America website.
“We’ll take that as a soft ‘yes,'” Fox host John Roberts said. Haley just smiled in response.
Trump’s former vice president Mike Pence is also expected to run for the Oval Office in 2024. On Wednesday, Pence announced in a press release that he has launched Advancing American Freedom, “a policy and advocacy organization established to promote the pro-freedom policies of the last four years that created unprecedented prosperity at home and restored respect for America abroad, to defend those policies from liberal attacks and media distortions, and to prevent the radical Left from enacting its policy agenda that would threaten America’s freedoms.”
The latest rising star among potential 2024 Republican presidential candidates is Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who has recently slapped down an assault by CBS News, and has been highly commended for his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in Florida.
An op-ed published in The Hill Wednesday morning said the “60 Minutes” hit piece on DeSantis “backfired fantastically” and just made him a 2024 frontrunner – if Trump decides not to run.
