Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis celebrated Shark Week by sending out a tongue-in-cheek fundraising email touting the lack of shark attacks that have occurred during his tenure.

Polis is running for re-election in November, and his campaign bragged that Colorado, a landlocked state, is once again “tied for first” for the state with the fewest shark attacks on Tuesday.

The article goes on to state the following:

The email blast requested that recipients pitch in $1 to spread the message about Polis’ “strong record on shark safety.”

The email reads, “Last year, I emailed you to share the good news that Colorado was tied for first for the state with the fewest shark attacks. So now, as we kick off Shark Week, I wanted to share an important update. And that update is that Colorado has once again had zero shark attacks so far in 2022.”

The email continues, “But here’s the problem: it turns out many voters don’t know that Colorado is faring so much better than other states when it comes to shark attacks. And we need to get the message out — not only about my strong record on shark safety, but on issues like creating affordable housing, saving people money on health care, and protecting our planet from climate change.”

Head of RSI digital media Shoshana Weissmann tweeted Tuesday, “Hands down best fundraising email I’ve ever received from a campaign @jaredpolis.”

  1. There’s all kind of sharks. Political anti American, money hungry, war mongering sharks even in land locked states. They are more dangerous then real sharks in the water. You moron.

    • He’s not an idiot, he’s actually a genius. I’m pretty sure 50% of the population have no idea its a land locked state. I wonder if he is one of them who don’t know. I mean if men can have babies then why can’t Colorado have sharks
