Democrats have expressed dismay behind closed doors about the prospect of two-time failed gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams throwing her hat in the ring for another run at office.

This past January, without specifying exactly what position she would run for, Abrams told Drew Barrymore on her daytime talk show that she will be back again.

“I will likely run again,” Abrams said. “If at first you don’t succeed, try try again. If it doesn’t work, you try again.”

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), Abrams commented last week that she views political office as “one tool for the issues I am committed to tackling.”

Greg Bluestein of the AJC wrote, “Interviews with more than three dozen Democratic officials, party leaders and activists suggest she may not have the same unified support she enjoyed after her first defeat to Kemp in 2018.”

Chair of Monroe County’s Democratic Party, Yvonne Stuart, said, “I do believe there might be another charismatic Democrat that can take us all the way in 2026.”

David Ellis-Mendoza, the chair of the Bartow County Democrats, commented, “I believe that there are opportunities for others to step up to the plate and run for governor.”

Former head of the Democratic Party of Georgia, Bobby Kahn, noted, “The party needs to move forward. And going 0-3 isn’t a way to go forward. Does she really want to be the next Guy Millner?”

He continued, “She can’t just chalk it up to running against an incumbent. She raised a record amount of money. And Democrats in 49 other states thought she would win. She will still be hard to beat in a primary. You have to hope she comes to this conclusion herself. There are a lot of rising leaders in the party ready to step in.”

Bluestein tweeted Thursday, “’The party needs to move forward. And going 0-3 isn’t a way to go forward.’ Stacey Abrams says she will ‘likely run again.’ That doesn’t excite some Democrats. #gapol. Abrams says she will continue to run organizations that ‘address critical needs and achieve long-term change.’ ‘Political office is simply one tool for the issues I am committed to tackling,’ she said, ‘and I will engage all sectors to serve.'”

  1. One of the most evasive politicians I’ve ever seen. She never answers a question directly. Comes across as completely fake probably because she is completely fake. Would love to see her lose again!

  2. Move to Canada and run for office there. Or start off lower, maybe an HOA president. Abrams is bad news. Nothing but hate in her heart. Go hibernate. Leave America alone.
