Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is neck and neck with former President Donald Trump in Utah, according to a poll that shows the Florida governor keeping pace with the former president.
A Deseret News-Hinckley Institute poll shows Trump with 27% in the Republican presidential primary in the Beehive State and DeSantis with 26%. The survey had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.78 percentage points.
Behind the two Florida men, former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney has 7%, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has 5%, former Vice President Mike Pence has 5%, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy has 4%, Sen. Tim Scott (R-SC) has 3%, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) has 3%, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson has 1%.
While Cheney and Cruz have not announced a 2024 run, the others have declared their candidacy.
DeSantis remains in second place in the field overall, but he has also made gains in key states. In both Texas and Iowa, for example, he gained 14 points on Trump.
