Elon Musk doubled down on his criticism of billionaire financier George Soros on Thursday, arguing that the progressive philanthropist was supporting elected officials whose policies harmed U.S. cities.

Musk, 51, compared Soros, 92, to X-Men supervillain Magneto – a character who manipulates the world and thinks mutants should be in charge, rather than humans.

He made the comments on Twitter on Monday, following the announcement that Soros’ investment fund had dumped all of their Tesla stock.

Musk had been accused by some on the left of being anti-Semitic for criticizing the liberal billionaire, who owns the Open Society Foundation and pours millions into electing radical people within the justice system.

Jonathan Greenblatt, CEO of the Anti-Defamation League, had said on CNBC that Musk is not anti-Semitic, but still labeled his remarks about Soros as ‘dangerous.’

“He’s arguably the most influential person on the planet controlling what’s essentially our public square. When he repeats conspiracy theories, that feeds the extremists,” Greenblatt claimed.

Musk responded on Twitter. He wrote:

In fairness, I must concede that [Jonathan] has a good point and I will endeavor to be more thoughtful in the future. Comic book analogies are obviously imperfect, to say the least. Just because George Soros can bend metal using his mind doesn’t mean he’s Magneto!!

Anyway, my actual concern with Soros is that he has funded so many politicians & DAs who are soft even on violent crime, which has caused great damage to many cities imo.

Also, while I am very much in favor of expanding legal immigration, we must have some vetting of who comes in, so that we do not allow dangerous felons to prey upon innocent Americans.

Independent journalist Brian Krassenstein responded:

This is what Soros wrote recently about his intentions while trying to reshape the Justice system.

“My agenda includes prioritizing the resources of the criminal-justice system to protect people against violent crime. It urges that we treat drug addiction as a disease, not a crime. And it seeks to end the criminalization of poverty and mental illness… The goal is not defunding the police but restoring trust between the police and the policed, a partnership that fosters the solving of crimes.”

Would you at last agree with that statement he put out?

As for immigration, I agree that we need comprehensive reform. The current situation we are in is NOT sustainable.

Pointing out how Soros has upended the justice system and caused more crime, Musk replied:

I mostly agree with that statement, but talk is cheap – results are what matter.

Downtown SF & LA, for example, are *not* how we want civilization to end up. They are like a low energy version of Mad Max / Last of Us.

Musk got a lot of backlash from the left this week, after he tweeted, “You assume they are good intentions. They are not. He wants to erode the very fabric of civilization. Soros hates humanity.”

On May 16, Musk wrote:

Among other things, Soros astutely identified a massive arbitrage opportunity in district attorney elections, where a relatively small amount of money has outsized influence.

Soros’s instructions to his pet prosecutors were (essentially) to minimize prosecuting even violent criminals.

That’s why a criminal – someone who had already stabbed his roommate – could brutally assault Dave Chapelle on stage with that same deadly weapon and yet receive merely a misdemeanor!”

“Does the public realize that Soros wants open borders? Literally not even checking to see if they’re convicted serial killers on the run, which has happened more than once,” Musk tweeted on Thursday.
