Evangelical leader Franklin Graham declined to endorse former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary. He remained neutral instead.

Graham has been one of Trump’s longest and most vocal supporters. He first expressed interest in a presidential run in 2011, according to an interview with CBS News.

He went on to help animate the evangelical vote in Trump’s direction in 2016 and especially in 2020. He attributed his 2016 victory to divine providence.

In an interview with CSB News while attending the March for Life rally in Washington, D.C. on Friday, Graham was asked who he would support in the 2024 GOP primary.

“I’m going to stay out of it until after the primaries have finished,” Graham responded.

“I’m just not going to get involved in supporting this one over that one. Let’s just let the people decide. And when the dust is settled, I’ll make a decision on that point,” he added.

In December 2020, Graham had tweeted, “Since the 2016 election, @POTUS @realDonaldTrump has been falsely accused, maligned, and attacked. He told us his campaign was spied on. He was right. He told us there was no collusion. He was proven right. When he says this election was rigged or stolen, I tend to believe him.”

“Pray for @POTUS @realDonaldTrump, pray for @JoeBiden, and pray for our nation—that we will get through this, and for God’s will be done,” Graham added.

In January 2021, just days before Trump left office, Graham posted the following statement on Facebook:

Shame, shame on the ten Republicans who joined with Speaker Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in impeaching President Trump yesterday. After all that he has done for our country, you would turn your back and betray him so quickly? We have never had a president like him in my lifetime. He gave us lower taxes, a strong economy, and low unemployment. He made NATO take notice and pay their own way. He had the guts to take on North Korea and meet with their leader personally. He didn’t let China walk all over us. Just his Mideast peace initiatives in the last couple of months deserve a Nobel Peace Prize.

He has defended religious liberty like no president before him, and that matters to all people of faith. He has worked to bring prison reform and secured our southern border. He defeated the ISIS caliphate in Syria, and he strengthened our military. He was also the most pro-life president we have ever had. But the House Democrats impeached him because they hate him and want to do as much damage as they can. And these ten, from his own party, joined in the feeding frenzy. It makes you wonder what the thirty pieces of silver were that Speaker Pelosi promised for this betrayal.

President Trump isn’t a perfect person. I don’t support or agree with some of the things the President said and did the last couple of weeks. January 6 was a low point in his presidency. We knew he had flaws when he ran for office in 2016. But I, and millions of others, voted for him because of the platform and policies he promised. I still support those. The Democrats have been trying to get rid of the President since the day he took office. What they did yesterday only further divides our nation. I hope President-elect Biden will keep his word and work for unity as he has said.

  1. A man of faith should not remain neutral, or silent. God works with you, not against you. That seems to be a problem with so many so called pastors nowadays that cave to the agenda.

    • Men of faith need time to make decisions. I’d much rather him have the time he needs to make the very best judgment than to jump and speak too quickly. That’s having patience and wisdom. I’m sure in time, we’ll hear about who his support is thrown to.

  2. You know – whomever wrote this story is a typical 2023 journalist.

This reads: Franklin Graham declined to endorse former President Donald Trump in the 2024 Republican primary.

BUT at a recent rally, Graham stated: “I’m going to stay out of it until after the primaries have finished”.

HORRIBLE journalism! Graham didn’t decline to endorse Trump, Joe Biden, or Mickey Mouse. He simply is staying out of it until after the primaries.

Dammit you journalists — quit speaking your opinion and just type it EXACTLY like it was said.

    • It isn’t difficult for a true person of faith such as Franklin to see through a man with a 21-women record of sexual assault and bragging about grabbing women by the pu&&y. Franklin knows he has choices and will endorse Desantis for President and Ted Cruz or Youngkin for Vice President once the MAGA Lyin’ Scion is crushed in the primaries…

. Trump Derangement Syndrome is a consequence by a gathering of people selling their soul to a leader with a long history of using others for the sole benefit of himself.

      • Don-obsessed-Kohn. — I guarantee that you have sat in a bar with your friends at some point in your life and talking about how to get laid. Hypocrite! You’ll burn people at the stake, not admitting you’ve done the same.

        • You moron, it is the fascists paranoid trumpster divers who will burn people at the stake if they gain power.
Have you not read all the trumpster diver comments about killing minorities and others who do not think like them including wishing death upon me for telling the truth about their God-Emperor?

.Trump Derangement Syndrome is an extreme far-right fascist Nazi philosophy governed by supporters whose top MAGA leader advocates ANTIFA-like tactics with insurrection rioting, deposing government and replacing it with his own idealized version, his supporters advocate killing opponents if necessary-even those of us in their own party such as Kohn on DML, canceling those MAGA and supporters oppose, and jailing those he doesn’t like such as Assange, Snowden, and journalists

  3. As an evangelical myself, I completely support Rev. Graham’s approach. This is not an act of disloyalty to Pres. Trump, whom I personally support, Kohn’s rabid TDS notwithstanding. Trump was an outstanding, much unfairly maligned president. It is a matter of discretion and respecting the many godly potential GOP candidates and how the political process is supposed to play out on its own without too inordinate an amount of church intervention.

  4. The headline is very misleading. Franklin is not commenting until the primary. That’s his right. He has not disparaging Trump at all. My only thing is the elections are corrupt and Trump won in 2020. And the country has been ruined by Mr Magoo in the WH. I do feel eventually he needs to endorse Trump again to save our country. Trump is NOT polarizing. The one who divided us was Obama and his wife and The Beast Biden is carrying his agenda on with total disaster in mind.

    • Trump is not polarizing will become the #1 over-statement of 2023.
He just isn’t polarizing to you since you are an extremist fascist whose thinking aligns with your MAGA Knuckle-Dragging Troglodyte.

.Trump Derangement Syndrome is an unintended consequence of following the leader of MAGA who is using the Forrest and the Ax proverb to dupe trumpster divers who lack the intellectual capacity to know otherwise.
“The forest was shrinking, but the trees kept voting for the ax. For the ax was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood, he was one of them.”

  5. A wise decision on Franklin Graham’s part. This article is very misleading. It’s obvious the journalist who wrote this article is either bias or unqualified to be a good journalist. Good journalist’s stay neutral. At no time did Mr. Graham say he would not endorse Donald Trump. Why would anyone, with the best interest of our country in mind, endorse a particular candidate before hearing from his competitors? In my opinion, waiting until after the primaries is the right decision.

  6. Franklin is being wise in waiting. I assume he is also seeking Gods direction in this as it is God who puts rulers in place and it is God who removes them.
