Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker called for AP Courses that teach “black queer American” history in response to Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis rejecting AP classes about black Americans.

As Breitbart News reported last week, Ron DeSantis rejected a high school Advance Placement course for African American studies. A letter earlier this month from Florida Department of Education’s Office of Articulation told the College Board that the AP course is “inexplicably contrary to Florida law and significantly lacks educational value.”

“In the future, should College Board be willing to come back to the table with lawful, historically accurate content, FDOE will always be willing to reopen the discussion,” the letter said.

According to the report, DeSantis spokesman Bryan Griffin further told CNN the course “leaves large, ambiguous gaps that can be filled with additional ideological material, which we will not allow.”

In a response to DeSantis, Pritzker wrote a letter to the college board telling them they need to resist the governor’s “political grandstanding.”

He wrote, “I am writing to you today to urge the College Board to preserve the fundamental right to an education that does not follow the political grandstanding of Governor DeSantis and the whims of Republicans in Florida. I am extremely troubled by recent news reports that claim Governor DeSantis is pressuring the College Board to change the AP African American Studies course in order to fit Florida’s racist and homophobic laws.”

Pritzker tweeted Thursday, “Illinois will not stand for watering down our nation’s history. And I urge the @CollegeBoard to do the same. We reject any change to AP African American Studies in order to appease extremists like the Florida Governor and his Republican allies.”

“Our students expect any AP course to include the facts — the honest and accurate history of our nation. Anything less is bound to lead to a repeat of the mistakes of the past, furthering the Florida Governor’s racist and homophobic agenda.”

Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton commented, “Black history is American history. LGBTQ+ history is American history. Thank you, @GovPritzker. History must be taught in a way that is true and accurate—even the parts that are painful—so we don’t repeat the mistakes of our past.”

    • Problem is that the Dems in Chicago are so many they make it near impossible for anyone else to win, though most of IL is actually rural and small town and agricultural. IL is an excellent example of why we need the Electoral College for the Presidential elections, because otherwise 4 or 5 big (Dem of course) cities would always choose our President.

  1. Oh great, let’s just create an elective for Gay Black people, and call it Black Queer History as an excuse to start a gay sex/porn class hub, in a classroom on school Campus!
🤔 I wonder how they would be graded?

  2. Floridians are not racist or homophobic. These are Pritzkers problems . Only its racist and heterophobic. Never saw an administration
so eager to kill moms, dads and the nuclear family off . As well as destroy all biblical values. Floridians just don’t believe you should be teaching adult propaganda to children. Clean up your lesson plans.

  3. Another pos democrat pritzger pretzel WEIGHING in on stuff he knows nothing about!!!
Keep your CRT and pedophillia in your own state

  4. I was born in IL, moved away on a job transfer in 1985, moved again to Indiana in 1997 and I am still here. Would not go back to that crazy idiotic ruined-by-Democrats state for ANYTHING.
