Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) on Friday announced a plan to tax big companies that don’t pay their workers at least $15 per hour, an alternative minimum wage approach also put forth by by Senate Budget Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) and Senate Finance Committee Chairman Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).

“For decades, the wages of everyday, working Americans have remained stagnate [sic] while monopoly corporations have consolidated industry after industry, securing record profits for CEOs and investment bankers,” Hawley said in a statement.

The article goes on to state the following:

“Mega-corporations can afford to pay their workers $15 an hour, and it’s long past time they do so, but this should not come at the expense of small businesses already struggling to make it.”

“Today I’m introducing legislation to increase the minimum wage for big business – Senate should take an up or down vote on it,” Hawley announced Friday morning.

“The biggest corporations in America can afford to pay their workers $15 an hour. Raise the minimum wage for big business, not small business,” Hawley suggested earlier this week.

“Blue collar workers have shouldered the worst of the pandemic. They deserve to keep more of their hard-earned money. They deserve a pay raise. I am introducing new legislation to give them one,” Hawley said.

  1. Haha! Told you so! All you strokers out there puffing up Hawley were warned last a while ago. Hawley is a Democrat of old, nothing more. Populism is how we got a Democrat party to be fine with. Conservatism is the only way to go. It is the only philosophy of governing, ever, to result in prosperity for all.

  2. What is wrong with these people? Stop dictating the minimum wage. Sadly, I thought his speech was great on Jan 6th but now he might be a moron for voting for this.
