REPORT: Israeli Prime Minister Vows ‘Strong, Swift,’ Response to Deadliest Palestinian Terror Attack in Over a Decade

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday night vowed a “strong, swift, precise” response to two deadly terror attacks in Jerusalem, and proposed stripping Arab attackers with Israeli citizenship of their social security benefits in addition to arming more Israeli civilians.

Seven people were murdered, including children, in a terrorist shooting attack on Friday evening in Jerusalem’s Neve Ya’akov neighborhood while they were leaving a synagogue after Shabbat services. The attack occurred on International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

The terrorist, identified as Alqam Khayri, a 21-year-old resident of eastern Jerusalem, was shot dead by police while attempting to flee.

The morning after, a second attack took place when a 13-year-old terrorist opened fire on a group of Israelis outside the Old City of Jerusalem. The act severely wounded two people, a father and son. The younger victim, an off-duty soldier, and another member of the group managed to shoot the terrorist.

Netanyahu praised the “bravery shown by ordinary citizens” for saving lives and shooting the terrorists.

Israeli Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai called for citizens with firearm licenses to carry their guns.

After the terror attack, Netanyahu posted a series of posts on Twitter. They translate as follows:

I opened the cabinet meeting after visiting the “Gates of Justice” and “Hadasa Mount Scopus” hospitals for the victims of the attacks in Jerusalem. We all wish them a speedy recovery and salute the medical teams who treat them with devotion.

Yesterday, the cabinet approved additional measures to fight terrorism, and the government will discuss today the denial of identity and residency cards from families of terrorists who support terrorism. At the same time, we are expanding and speeding up the licensing of weapons to thousands of authorized citizens. More licensed Israelis with weapons = faster response to terrorists.

I am proud of our security forces who work around the clock. We are all united with them in our uncompromising fight against terrorism. together we will win. (Photo: Haim Tzach, L.A.M.)

On behalf of all the citizens of Israel, I would like to send my heartfelt condolences to the families of those murdered in the heinous and terrible attack in our capital, Jerusalem: Asher Natan (14), Ilya Sosansky (25), Shaul Chai (68), the couple Eli (48) and Nathalie (45) Mizrahi, Raphael Ben Eliyahu (56) and Irena Korolova (59). may them rest in peace.

  2. The Israelis commit terrorist attacks every single day on the Palestinians. But no one seems to notice this. How would you feel if men with military weapons walked into your house and told you to get out because they’re going to give it to an Israeli?

    • But they are not murdering Palestinians like they are killing Israelis !! They might strong arm them but not killing them!! There is a big difference. The thugs who killed innocent people are way worse ! You can’t even compare the two. So get real!!
