The Jan. 6 committee’s staff is reportedly angry with Rep. Liz Cheney’s (R-WY) apparent overfixation on former President Donald Trump, particularly in the commission’s final report.

Staffers speaking with the Washington Post voiced their frustrations over Cheney’s handling of the committee, saying she has turned the commission into a political vehicle to launch a political comeback. In her position as vice chairwoman, the Wyoming congresswoman has exerted considerable control over the investigation, steering it away from the original goal of investigating security failures on Jan. 6 to an attack on former President Donald Trump. Her policy of removing investigations not immediately relating to Trump has sparked frustration from many working on the committee.

“We all came from prestigious jobs, dropping what we were doing because we were told this would be an important fact-finding investigation that would inform the public,” one former committee staffer told the outlet. “But when [the committee] became a Cheney 2024 campaign, many of us became discouraged.”

Cheney’s spokesman, Jeremy Adler, responded, “Donald Trump is the first president in American history to attempt to overturn an election and prevent the peaceful transfer of power. So, damn right Liz is ‘prioritizing’ understanding what he did and how he did it and ensuring it never happens again.”

Adler added, “Some staff have submitted subpar material for the report that reflects long-held liberal biases about federal law enforcement, Republicans, and sociological issues outside the scope of the Select Committee’s work. She won’t sign onto any ‘narrative’ that suggests Republicans are inherently racist or smears men and women in law enforcement, or suggests every American who believes God has blessed America is a white supremacist.”

Tim Mulvey, the committee’s spokesman, had a similar message for the current and former staff, labeling them as cowards and claimed they are being disloyal.

He said, “They’ve forgotten their duties as public servants and their cowardice is helping Donald Trump and others responsible for the violence of January 6th. All nine committee members continue to review materials and make contributions to the draft report, which will address every key aspect of the committee’s investigation. Decisions about the contents of the report ultimately rest with the committee’s bipartisan membership, not the staff.”

Host Aaron Mate tweeted Wednesday, “Staffers on the Jan. 6 committee ‘have bristled at the committee morphing into what they have come to view as the vehicle for [Liz Cheney’s] political future.'”

  1. Does that ugly bitch always have a mean angry look on her face. It must be miserable to live in her angry, hateful little world 24/7. It looks like she sucks on lemons. How does she continue to exist.

  2. You know Trump being a businessman not a politician All he did was exercise his legal right which even former President Bush said he had a legal right to do this not once has he been charged with overthrowing the government after two years of investigation and endless subpoenas and where did he even try to overthrow the government or the election by challenging it Hillary Clinton did this called Trump illegitimate president

  3. This is exactly how Democracy dies..Just like this. Or a Republic for that matter. Give it a rest people. The nation will not survive this division. Not this time!!!

  4. I’m so sick of this committee. Glad Cheney will be gone & the other rinos. Can’t wait for the house start their investigation on 1/3

  5. So when are they gonna look into piglosi not accepting trumps offer for more security, or how about the police holding open the doors for the so called rioter

  6. This illegitimate committee never intended to learn about security failings. If it had had such an intent, it would have subpoenaed Nancy Pelosi. No, this was a political show trial designed to distract the electorate from Biden’s usurpation and colossal misrule by turning the 2022 election instead into a referendum on Trump and J6. The GOP should convene its own J6 Committee. That committee should release the hidden video footage, reveal the truth behind the events, investigate the role of the FBI and Ray Epps, identify the 80 suspicious actors, subpoena Pelosi, etc.
