An Oklahoma man is behind bars after police say he shot a woman multiple times in the back who was trying to steal his Nazi flag.

Alexander Feaster, 44, was arrested after the incident occurred in the small town of Hunter, which has a population of 165 people, on Sunday. Garfield County Sheriff Jody Helm said that when they responded to the scene, they discovered a 26-year-old woman lying in a ditch who had been shot by Feaster three to five times with a 5.56 mm rifle.

According to NBC News, Helms said investigators are unsure whether the woman was dared to steal the racist display or if she did so to make a political statement.

Feaster is being held on the charges of assault and battery with a deadly weapon and shooting with intent to kill.
