Mary Trump paints a disturbing picture of her uncle, President Trump, in a forthcoming book that accuses him of “cruelty and incompetence” and a penchant for lying and cheating that dates back to when he was a young adult.
In her memoir, obtained by The Hill ahead of next week’s publication date, Mary Trump offers a jarring depiction of the Trump family, alleging that the president’s father, Fred Trump, was a “high-functioning sociopath” and that his treatment of his children created an “atmosphere of division” and encouraged what she describes as Donald Trump’s narcissistic, arrogant and grandiose behavior.
The article goes on to state the following:
The book — “Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,” set for release by publisher Simon & Schuster on July 14 — is based on Mary Trump’s recollections as well as conversations and interviews she has had with family members, friends, neighbors and other associates, and documents and correspondence.
“Donald’s pathologies are so complex and his behaviors so often inexplicable that coming up with an accurate and comprehensive diagnosis would require a full battery of psychological and neuropsychological tests that he’ll never sit for,” she wrote.
The New York Times reported: “The book, ‘Too Much and Never Enough: How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man,’ depicts a multigenerational saga of greed, betrayal and internecine tension and seeks to explain how President Trump’s position in one of New York’s wealthiest and most infamous real-estate empires helped him acquire what Ms. Trump has referred to as “twisted behaviors” — attributes like seeing other people in ‘monetary terms’ and practicing ‘cheating as a way of life.’ ”
The Times lists several “highlights from her manuscript.” They include:
- Donald Trump paid someone to take the SAT for him, which helped him gain admittance to the University of Pennsylvania’s prestigious Wharton business school
- Donald Trump’s older brother, Fred Trump Jr., went to the hospital alone on the night of his 1981 death from an alcohol-induced heart attack, while Donald Trump went to see a movie.
- Donald Trump’s sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, a retired federal appeals court judge, had “deep reservations” about his ability to be president.“He’s a clown — this will never happen,” she quotes her aunt as saying. In another quote, Maryanne is quoted as questioning evangelical Christian support for the president.“The only time Donald went to church was when the cameras were there,” Maryanne allegedly said. “It’s mind boggling. But that’s all about his base. He has no principles. None!”
- Donald Trump is a narcissist Mary Trump, a clinical psychologist, asserts. “The fact is,” she writes, “Donald’s pathologies are so complex and his behaviors so often inexplicable that coming up with an accurate and comprehensive diagnosis would require a full battery of psychological and neurophysical tests that he’ll never sit for.”
