Twitter owner and billionaire Elon Musk argued that former President Donald Trump’s indictment by the Department of Justice risks losing the trust of the American public.

Trump is the current front-runner in the 2024 Republican presidential primary.

The former president said the case is “election interference” and “the greatest witch hunt of all time.” He explained that he will “of course” plead not guilty to charges in federal court on Tuesday, and said he is “totally innocent.”

After the announcement about the indictment, Musk tweeted:

“There does seem to be far higher interest in pursuing Trump compared to other people in politics.”

“Very important that the justice system rebut what appears to be differential enforcement or they will lose public trust.”
