Hundreds of churches split from a regional body of the United Methodist Church (UMC) over the weekend as the second-largest Protestant denomination in the U.S. continues to hemorrhage congregations.

Delegates at a special session of the UMC’s North Carolina Conference voted 957-165 on Saturday to approve the departure of 249 congregations in the regional body that wanted to be disaffiliated from the mainline denomination effective Dec. 31.

The number of churches leaving is roughly 32% of the conference’s member churches, and they are taking with them about 22% of its membership, according to a statement.

The growing divide is the result of conservative Methodist churches pushing back against liberal sexuality policies, including the ordination or marriage of “self-avowed practicing homosexuals,” which is reportedly forbidden in the church’s Book of Discipline.

  1. Please explain why any LGBTQ,LMNOPXYZ wants to affiliate with a church considering they’re an abomination according to the good book. More tything😂

      • Yes- but most Protestant denominations are crawling back to Rome in ecumenical movements. Its dangerous and when Rome has full power again; she will wield it over dissenters and call them heretics for refusing to go against their conscience. Many were martyred under Rome in the dark ages; Huss,Jerome, and others.
What has taken Protestants soooo long to accomplish in breaking from Rome; they are now willing to Willy nilly capitulate

    • And most Protestant churchs hold their worship service on Sunday; a day that was only prescribed by Rome- a MARK of Romes authority in religious matters.
They say so; they say there’s no scriptural authority to worship on Sunday and that the CHURCH is above the Bible.
Gods day of worship is the 7th day sabbath according to the 4 th commandment and comes directly from creation week.

  2. 2 Corinthians 6:17
“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.“

  3. You can’t change the word of God and expect to get blessed from God
Only thing you can expect if you change his word is punishment

  4. Any church that days homosexuality is fine with God or that days trans is fine with God is a fallen church period.
Any one can go to church provided they repent though.

  5. When Jesus Christ died on the Cross, for each of us He became “OUR Sabbath ” which means “OUR REST.” So, do you have Jesus Christ in your mind and heart ONLY on Sunday? NO, He’s with us every day AND it’s ALWAYS good to visit His Temple.

  6. I don’t blame them from leaving the Methodist Church, the day they decided to support gay marriage and the gay lifestyle, is the day they supported Satan. I’m shocked at the number of churches that have !
