Americans support implementation of stricter voting laws, including voter ID requirements and restrictions on accepting ballots after Election Day, according to a new poll obtained by The Post Thursday.

The polling, commissioned by the Republican National Committee and conducted by former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, comes as Republicans have advocated for election reforms, with states including Florida, Georgia and Arizona passing stricter voting laws, which top Democrats have argued is a power grab to disenfranchise voters.

The article goes on to state the following:

The phone survey — which was conducted June 8-June 13 with 800 registered voters, 31 percent of whom identify as Democrats, 29 percent as Republicans, and 36 percent as independents — found 80 percent of its participants feel verifying voter ID “is an important security measure,” while 89 percent said that they are in favor of “purging voter rolls” after individuals have died or are no longer registered in previous areas they resided in.

Though the Election Integrity Polling Project was conducted by Republicans, they said “the nationwide poll was conducted with 800 registered voters, with 31% identifying as Democrats, 29% as Republicans, and 36% as Independents.”

“It’s not just Republicans who are concerned about election integrity – Nearly two-thirds (63%) of all voters reported that the issue of election integrity was either their top issue or in their top three when deciding how to vote,” the pollsters said of the survey. “77% of all voters reject Democrats’ claim that “racism” is behind voting integrity laws, and believe one party uses it for political purposes, not for electoral progress.”

The poll also showed that 87% of voters said they were against ballot harvesting and 71% of voters believe ballots should not be accepted after election day.

Furthermore, 66% of voters said early-voting ballots should be counted as they come in and 53% said special pandemic voting measures should be lifted.

“Election integrity is very much on the minds of American voters right now. Americans want to make sure that post-pandemic, we get voter integrity measures right, that they’re fair to everyone, and that we don’t use as an excuse measures that were very specific to a once in a century pandemic,” Conway said during an appearance with RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel.

  1. The very first time I ever voted it was 1976 I was 18 years old I had to show my identification to show that I lived where I said I lived I was who I said I was and I was as old as I claim to be I don’t have a problem with that everybody’s got to have ID you got to have ID for everything drive a car buy alcohol credit card bank account job and if their excuse is they don’t have an ID then by damn they should have free voter identification just hand them out and also I would like to say everybody has cell phones now when we go in to vote we should take a picture of our ID next to our filled-out ballot keep a copy for our records and send a copy to the RNC that way when it comes down to account we don’t have to rely on a corrupt government we have proof of what we did

  2. Lorry Lucas – what a great, clever idea! Picture of your filled-out ballot next to your ID. Sounds foolproof and tamperproof to me.
