Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) is feuding with Jewish House Democrats about Israel — again.

A dozen Jewish Democrats who support Israel are publicly pushing back on Omar, a Somali refugee and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, for appearing to compare the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban while discussing war crimes.

The article goes on to state the following:

“Equating the United States and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided. Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and contemptible organizations that engage in terrorism at best discredits one’s intended argument and at worst reflects deep-seated prejudice,” the 12 Democrats, led by Rep. Brad Schneider (D-Ill.), a staunch Israel ally, said in a joint statement.

On Monday, Omar had thrown the United States and Israel in the same category with the terror groups Hamas and the Taliban.

“We must have the same level of accountability and justice for all victims of crimes against humanity. We have seen unthinkable atrocities committed by the U.S., Hamas, Israel, Afghanistan, and the Taliban. I asked @SecBlinken where people are supposed to go for justice,” the Somalian refugee congresswoman tweeted.

“We urge Rep Omar to clarify her words placing the US and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban,” Rep. Schneider tweeted Wednesday night, along with a copy of the blistering public press release against Omar.

Omar fired back defiantly, “It’s shameful for colleagues who call me when they need my support to now put out a statement asking for “clarification” and not just call. The islamophobic tropes in this statement are offensive. The constant harassment & silencing from the signers of this letter is unbearable.”

“Citing an open case against Israel, US, Hamas & Taliban in the ICC isn’t comparison or from “deeply seated prejudice”. You might try to undermine these investigations or deny justice to their victims but history has thought us that the truth can’t be hidden or silenced forever,” she added.

Schneider isn’t backing down. He responded to Omar Thursday morning, “Equating the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban is as offensive as it is misguided. Ignoring the differences between democracies governed by the rule of law and organizations that engage in terrorism discredits one’s intended argument and reflects deep-seated prejudice.”

“The United States and Israel are imperfect and, like all democracies, at times deserving of critique, but false equivalencies give cover to terrorist groups. We urge Congresswoman Omar to clarify her words placing the US and Israel in the same category as Hamas and the Taliban,” Schneider added.

Omar has further responded by re-tweeting comments by those who have come to her defense:

Political Commentator Fred Menachem responded to Omar, tweeting, “Why is everything with you about being anti-Muslim? They are calling you out for your hatred of America because you compared the United States and Israel to the Taliban and Hamas. You need to be called out. You need to be thrown out of Congress and quickly.”

Republicans have also blasted Omar for including the U.S. and Israel in the same category as terror groups.

Rep. Brian Mast tweeted earlier this week, “This is absolutely disgusting from a Member of Congress. I lost two legs and a finger defending the USA and fighting the radical Islamic terrorists that @Ilhan Omar is now defending. She is completely unfit to serve our country.”

Rep. Lee Zeldin tweeted, “Ilhan Omar must be removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee. She should have never been appointed to this Committee in the first place.”

Longtime Trump advisor Jason Miller responded to the battle between Omar and her fellow Democrats by tweeting, “You don’t say….”
