A Rhode Island university announced on Friday that it would be revoking honorary degrees given to Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor turned personal lawyer for President Trump, and Michael Flynn, Trump’s first national security adviser.

The University of Rhode Island Board of Trustees said that they were revoking the honorary degrees given to Giuliani and Flynn following a review by the Honorary Degree Committee.

The article goes on to state the following:

The committee cited Giuliani’s participation at the Jan. 6 rally that precipitated the attack by a mob of Trump supporters at the Capitol, saying he “encouraged domestic terrorist behavior aimed at preventing Congress from certifying the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.”

In a statement, the Board of Trustees announced:

KINGSTON, R.I. – January 21, 2022 – The University of Rhode Island Board of Trustees voted today to revoke the honorary degrees previously awarded to retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani. At the request of the URI Faculty Senate Executive Committee, the URI Honorary Degree Committee deliberated in December 2021, and forwarded its recommendation to URI President Marc Parlange at the end of the month.

“After reviewing the recommendation from the President, who endorsed the committee’s recommendation, the Board voted to approve the revocation of these honorary degrees,” said Chair of the Board of Trustees Margo Cook. “The Board of Trustees supports the University and its mission to uphold its values, especially its commitment to intellectual and ethical leadership and fostering an environment of diversity and respect.”

“I agree with the Board’s decision,” said President Parlange. “Based on the findings of the Honorary Degree Committee, I made a recommendation to the Board of Trustees to revoke the honorary degrees of General Flynn and Mayor Giuliani, agreeing that they no longer represent the highest level of our values and standards that were evident when we first bestowed the degree.”

  1. It must be awful to be so full of hate. I wouldn’t want to live with someone so full of hate, you know life must be hell being around someone like that.

  2. Such losers, who are overfilled with stupidity. They are an example of where no parent will want their children to attend to further one’s education.

  3. This was a poor decision on the part of these university “leaders.”

All they’re teaching their student body, and what they’re telling the world, is that they will choose to invalidate you if you don’t agree with their opinions. In other words: they’re announcing their complete intolerance of ideologies that differ from their ideologies – and there’s no intellectual discourse allowed.

This is not a “good look” for a university that purports to offer a higher education. Smh…

  4. I feel like I just went back in time with this article. They are still canceling these people over this! This woke culture can kiss my ass.

  5. Everyone of us had better contact our representatives and explain they need to stop our money from being given to these ridiculous indoctrination centers.
It’s our money and they do not teach anything they resembles an education How many moron professors are we paying to ruin our young ?
