North College Hill City school district in Ohio has adopted a new learning approach for the upcoming shool year, having teachers and students only come into school four days a week, while giving them a day to do unsupervised work at home.

School district superintendent Eugene Blalock Jr. told local WCPO 9 Cincinnati he believes this “could be a model that could save the profession of education.”

Board members of the Cincinnati school district reportedly voted unanimously to incorporate the “blended learning” model into their upcoming 2023-2024 school year, recognizing its success when employed during the pandemic.

The North College Hill City school district is the first district in Ohio to adopt this blended model schedule, which will impact 1,400 students and 150 teachers.

Other schools in the nation have voted to adopt the four-day school week, such as the Independence School District near Kansas City, Missouri, which voted six-to-one for adopting a similarly abridged week.

Blalock said recently that the move would encourage educators to work for the district and help alleviate the stresses of hardworking staff, claiming:

“Teachers are leaving the profession at alarming rates and the idea of being able to have some time some quality time dedicated time to just get some collaboration some planning is something that is intriguing to the teachers, and it actually has excited and reignited my teachers.”

  1. Teachers are leaving for two reasons. One they can’t stand the woke teaching about sex, sex changing, gay sex, and all the crap with racism against whites. Two.. they can put up with the crap the kids are doing and not being able to get things under control because of all the my johnny didn’t do that parents

  2. That really was successful during the pandemic? Really? Then why are test scores way down along with civility and respect in the classroom? Teachers just want time for more of their unnecessary meetings about how to teach propaganda to kids. Teach fundamentals and you’ll have plenty of time for planning.

  3. Teachers already are only on the job half the year.Try working for a living.Wouldn’t miss half of these communist pervert snowflakes

    • Now now, my wife is a teacher and is a damn good teacher. My wife teaches English and College prep. Our school tested as one of the highest in that class. What I am getting at is not all teachers thought it was a good idea to “learn from home”. We also need to pay good teachers more. It is sad the hard work my wife puts in and not just during school hours. Yes, they get summers off I get that but, I would like to see any one of you try and teach the kids of today for one week. You wouldn’t last!

      • No one cares that your wife is part of the system. That she is a public school teacher does not suddenly improve public schools or the fact that teachers really don’t do a whole lot. The facts are the facts.

      • Johnny, you clearly have no idea what you’re talking about. My daughter is a teacher and she puts in more hours than a 9 to 5 does and also uses her own personal monies for job related things. Just try substitute teaching for a week and then come back and comment.

  4. We have a broken Society! Teachers only work 9 out of 12 months. What does this do for the Children, they’ll expect a 3 – 4 work week when they grow up. I tried to be a example to my children when they were growing up, I worked 12 hours days 5, 6 days a week. When something broke down, I stayed and helped get it back up and running. Now, my son is 39 years old, I see myself in him, he works 12 hour days, 5, 6 days a week. Very proud of him.

  5. Hahaha oh my God the teachers can’t work 5 days a week. Oh it’s too hard oh I feel so sorry for the teachers not. This is going to severely hurt the education of those children.

  6. As the children from the CCP and INDIA accelerate toward careers in THE U.S.
    WAKE UP#!

It’s the TEACHERS who are PATHETIC #!
