On Friday, the Supreme Court announced that it will hear oral arguments in the case of former Washington high school football coach Joe Kennedy, who was fired in 2015 after praying postgame with players on the team.

“No teacher or coach should lose their job for simply expressing their faith while in public,” stated First Liberty president and Kelly Shackelford who is representing Kennedy in the case Kennedy v. Bremerton School District.

The article goes on to state the following:

The Daily Wire reported on Kennedy’s case when it was turned down in 2019:

“Kennedy also led prayers with the team before and after games, but court documents note the tradition predated his employment and that his religion didn’t require him to lead such prayers, but did require him to give thanks after each game,” the Daily Wire reported, summarizing the case according to court documents. “As Kennedy kneeled and prayed after each game, members of the team began to join him until a majority of the team was also praying. Members of the opposing team were also invited to join. Kennedy eventually began giving mid-field motivational speeches after the games that included religious messaging.

In a press release, Kennedy said, “Six years away from the football field has been far too long. I am extremely grateful that the Supreme Court is going to hear my case and pray that I will soon be able to be back on the field coaching the game and players I love.”

  1. I will guarantee you, anyone who is about to die will call out to God. These hypocrites need to be fired. And the couch reinstated to the school.

    • Their idea of ‘freedom’ is ‘freedom from even seeing anything I disagree with because it offends me.’
Geez, what if some find ‘diversity’ so offensive?

  2. DENY ME IN FRONT IF MAN AND I WILL DENY YOU TO MY FATHER!! NO MANS ENTERS HEAVEN UNLESS ITS THROUGH ME!!! Those who tried to destroy this man will sadly be dealt with!

      • Not sure if u have any history on this…but I am pretty sure this was the case I followed about 6 years ago…he never asked students to join him or required they be present…he just went out on the field after games and started praying and students VOLUNTARILY joined in.

    • Johnny
Why didn’t you say A child of God or a Christian Or one that believes in the true living God of Heaven?
Being a conservative doesn’t make you one that believes and prays to God
There are Conservatives that are atheists

  4. He did what we all know. Giving thanks to God and sharing faith .
If God is for me who can be against me.
Praying he wins ! A great example for kids today . He is a leader .
Maybe Kurt Warner can stand up for him. He expressed his faith on the field also. Tebow wrote 3:16 in charcoal under his eyes before games.
It is God on trial ; are we back before Cesar?
