REPORT: Two Los Angeles-area police officers die after shootout with suspect

Two Los Angeles-area police officers who were rushed to the hospital Tuesday following a shooting have died, authorities said.

Authorities said two El Monte officers responded to the intersection of Garvey and Central avenues, where a possible stabbing was taking place at the Siesta Inn. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the police officers were shot by a suspect immediately after they arrived at the scene.

The article goes on to state the following:

Both officers were said to be in grave condition following the shooting and were transported to LAC-USC Medical Center, where they ultimately succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced dead, El Monte police said.

FoxLA reporter Elex Michaelson tweeted, “2 El Monte Police officers have died after being shot in the line of duty. The two officers were investigating a domestic violence call at an El Monte motel when they were shot. They were rushed to County USC Hospital where they died.”

“The suspect was shot & killed,” Michaelson added.

  1. You couldn’t pay me enough to be a police officer nowadays. I pray for their families. It’s awful to say, but it’s good the suspect didn’t live. In Ca, in Los Angeles, DA Gascon would have let the suspect go and no charges would have happened. In order to stop crime you must actually prosecute crime. Hold people accountable for their actions. This makes me so sad and angry at the same time. Two lives taken before their time. God Bless the Peacemakers!!
