Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin appointed an opponent of critical race theory to be the commonwealth’s new head of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, earning high praise from conservative activists.
The governor’s appointment of Angela Sailor of the conservative Heritage Foundation to lead the office signals a shift in the use of the Cabinet-level office under Republican governance. The governor also moved to rename the department, created in 2019, to the Office of Diversity, Opportunity, and Inclusion.
The article goes on to state the following:
The appointment earned Youngkin praise from the president of Sailor’s previous employer, Kevin Roberts, who said in a statement to the Washington Examiner that Sailor’s appointment was encouraging because it was not possible to “defeat the radical left’s divisive agenda unless we fight back.”
The report explains that Youngkin also changed the head of the office’s role to include being an “ambassador for unborn children” and addressing “disparities in pre-natal care.”

City Journal writer Chris Rufo tweeted, “Glenn Youngkin has asked all of the state’s DEI employees to resign and tapped anti-critical race theory leader Angela Sailor to lead the department. In her first move, Sailor eliminated the word “equity” and replaced it with “opportunity.””
My recommendation: abolish the DEI department entirely and replace it with a MEO department, promoting “merit,” “excellence,” and “opportunity.” This is ultimately a war of values and most Americans prefer a system of individual rights and achievement—not neo-Marxist “equity.”

WATCH: Democrats refuse to applaud when @GovernorVA @GlennYoungkin tells parents they “have a fundamental right, enshrined in law by this General Assembly, to make decisions with regard to your child’s upbringing, education and care. And we will protect and reassert that right.” pic.twitter.com/TMTVLkI5U4

Starting to love my home state again!
Can we have a Glen Youngkin in every state or a Ron DeSantis please!!
That would be a great.
Great news!
Brilliant! I’m loving this new governor.
People pushing CRT either deny that it exists (BS) or else they say ‘you just don’t want the kids told the truth.’ Okay, let’s teach them some truth. Like black on white crime statistics or comparative IQ’s of blacks to other races. Yes let’s have that truth too.
I live in in the Hampton Roads area in VA The city I’m in is so opposite from the ones that surround the beltway. I work from home and last school year for the first two months my grandson did his zoom classes at my house. No CRT was even brought up. Just regular ole teaching. Three months ago a kid came to school woth COVID. They only required the ones on the child’s bus to get COVID tested. My grandson got check and was negative. As precaution he was only required to stay home for 5 days. I see people without masks in the stores and no one goes crazy.
