The Los Angeles Dodgers have reversed course and decided to invite the anti-Catholic drag queen group “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” to the team’s LGBTQ Pride Night.
As Breitbart News reported last week, the Dodgers disinvited the drag queen group “Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence” after several Catholic groups decried the troupe for its anti-Catholic imagery and stance.
“The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence ‘use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency and guilt that chain the human spirit,’ according to their website. They were supposed to receive a Community Hero Award during the June 16 game,” the report noted.
They added, “The nonprofit was founded in 1979 when three men dressed in full, traditional nuns’ habits — one of them carrying a machine gun — walked the streets of San Francisco on Easter Sunday.”
After backlash from LGBTQ activists, the Dodgers apologized writing, “After much thoughtful feedback from our diverse communities, honest conversations within the Los Angeles Dodgers organization and generous discussions with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Los Angeles Dodgers would like to offer our sincerest apologies to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, members of the LGBTQ+ community and their friends and families.”
They added, “We have asked the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence to take their place on the field at our 10th annual LGBTQ+ Pride Night on June 16th. We are pleased to share that they have agreed to receive the gratitude of our collective communities for the lifesaving work that they have done tirelessly for decades.”
Author Matt Walsh tweeted Tuesday, “One thing you have to understand in order to make sense of this LA Dodgers story is that drag queens have officially become a protected class.
