A juvenile was killed and a police officer wounded Monday afternoon in a shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, according to two sources with direct knowledge of the situation who are not authorized to speak about it.

The Knoxville Police Department confirmed the shooting without details on its Twitter account. A medical examiner’s vehicle left the school about 5 p.m.

The article goes on to state the following:

The source said the wounded police officer is the Austin-East school resource officer. He was shot in the hip and is undergoing surgery, the source told Knox News.

The Knoxville Police Department released the following statement:

“At around 3:15 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, multiple law enforcement agencies responded to an officer-involved shooting at Austin-East Magnet High School.

“Based on the preliminary investigation, Knoxville Police Department officers responded to Austin-East Magnet High School on the report of a male subject who was possibly armed in the school. Upon approach of the subject, shots were fired.

“A KPD officers was struck at least one time and transported to the UT Medical Center with injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening. One male was pronounced deceased at the scene, while another was detained for further investigation. There are no other known gunshot victims.”

Reporter Madisen Keavy confirmed, “The @Knoxville_PD officer shot at Austin-East Magnet HS was conscious as he left the scene. Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon says his wife is with him at the hospital.”

WBIR reporter Grace King shared interviews with some of the parents waiting outside the school.

The Tennessee Department of Education responded by tweeting, “As details continue to emerge, our thoughts are with Austin East Magnet High School and those school community members who have been affected by the shooting that took place this afternoon. The department stands ready to support.”

  1. Ok, the bullshit is getting thick. This was immediately reported, this afternoon, as a mass shooting. It isn’t and never was.
    Let’s also consider that it happened in Knoxville, of all places. Knoxville is one big, ghetto-ized hood. So, why are we not getting details about the shooter? We already know the answer.
