An infant was found abandoned in a cardboard box in Alaska with a heartbreaking note from the desperate mother who said she could not afford to feed her baby.

Alaska state troopers responded to a report of an abandoned baby found around 2 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, officials confirmed in a statement.

The article goes on to state the following:

Temperatures at the time were in the single digits with a wind chill of 12 below, according to the National Weather Service.

The note found with the baby reads:

“Please help me!!! I was born today on December 31, 2021 (at) 6 a.m. I was born 12 weeks premature. My mom was 28 weeks when she had me. My parents and grandparents don’t have food or money to raise me. They NEVER wanted to do this to me. My parents lived on Cormorant St. My mom is so sad to do this. Please take me and find me a LOVING FAMILY. My parents are begging whoever finds me. My name is Teshawn.”

The woman who found the baby, Roxy Lane, of Fairbanks, shared a video on Facebook, along with the following statement:

Today I found an abandoned newborn in a cardboard at the row of mailboxes by my house. I’ve been processing my feelings all day and running through all the different scenarios and reasons, with my bf and family, as to why something like this could have happened.

I wanted to share some thoughts. First, the safe haven law is relatively new in Alaska (adopted in 2008) and it’s possible that many people, particularly young people, might not know what it is. There is always a safer, humane choice to surrender a baby and you will not get in trouble or even have to answer any difficult questions. Take the baby to a fire station, or church, or hospital and they will take care of them.

I hope the mother gets the help she might need. I doubt they could have afforded to take her to the hospital and she may be in need of medical attention. Please, someone knows this new mom, check on her! She might be in a desperate situation, feeling abandoned herself. We don’t know, there could be a whole backstory here behind closed doors.

Our community has been having an incredibly difficult time this year. I’ve been listening to sad story after sad story this week at work as I’ve been trying to do my part to provide our community with power and access to water or groceries. I’ve worked 9-11 hour days to provide good samaritans the ability to dig their neighbors out or pull out stranded strangers.

I’ve been thanked and called an angel more times this week than ever before at my job. So let’s keep this feeling of community going into this new year. Clearly, someone in our community felt so lost and hopeless that they made probably the hardest choice of their lives to leave that innocent life on the side of the road with nothing but some blankets and a name. But she named him! There’s some love there, even if she made a terrible decision.

I know we’re all struggling, I see it. I see you. I love you all and I’m here. Today I saved a baby and I’ll probably think about Teshawn for the rest of my life.

  1. So sad. Thanks shit pants. You are doing a great job. This makes me sick. If they can’t go to a hospital or police or firestation then neighbor. If girls knew they wouldn’t get in trouble to hand the child to an adult maybe this stuff would stop. Those that want to hurt a child should be able to do the same . Hand the child to an adult no questions asked. No arrest!!!

  2. Wow that is just heartbreaking bless this lady for getting involved and expressing kindness and cobcern for the baby AND the mother , perhaps things will turn around in a positive way for all .

  3. Why can’t the community and churches come together and get this family what it needs so they can raise their own child. This is horrible. She wants her baby. She even gave the street she lived on. She needs help. I hope someone would help this woman. So very sad.

    • Isn’t it sad our own government will help illegals but not our own? If only our own people would be put up in fancy hotels, free plane rides to states that would help them, given everything they need to survive, but our own people, adults and children have nothing!! They are living on the streets, freezing to death and starving and being abandoned because because they can’t afford it!

    • The government took away that job from the churches in the community. They called it well-fair! One size fits all. Get rid of the father and you get more money.
This is the churches jurisdiction in the community, not the governments.
We have lost our way, this all starts in a Christian home.
      “Education without morality, is evil.”

  4. Definitely a cry for help. Giving the street name and even naming the baby is a sign of a plea for help not abandonment. I hope the village people, church members, neighbors give them help and not recriminations. It was horrible to do but people don’t think straight when they are scared and desperate. God bless this family.

  5. This so sad seeing that note it tells you that the mother didn’t do this without some serious thought before hand since she gave her baby a name and basically told people where she lived. I believe there’s probably more stories like this one or very similar around the country. This is what Biden’s America has become.

  6. Why not put billboards up all over our cities informing of safe surrenders, no questions asked. I hope this dear baby survives. Tragic.

  7. This is heartbreaking , we can’t take care of our own but we take care and pay for all the illegals coming across the border, sickening!!

  8. THIS IS SO HEARTBREAKING, AMERICA HAS AN EVIL
POS IN THE WHITE HOUSE THAT LETS MILLIONS OF CRIMINAL ILLEGALS INTO THIS COUNTRY AND GIVES THEM HOTEL ROOMS, MONEY AND FLIES THE CRIMINALS ALL OVER AMERICA, AND YET WE LEAVE OUR CITIZENS WITH NO HOPE.
THIS POOR GIRL HAS LOST HER HOPE AND HER FAMILY IS TRYING TO SURVIVE AND THEY PROBABLY HAVE NO HOPE EITHER.
THERE IS A SPECIAL PLACE FOR BIDEN AND HIS CRONIES AND ITS NOT HEAVEN.
WE JUST CAME BACK FROM SHOPPING FOR MY DAUGHTERS BABY THAT WILL BE COMING FRIDAY BY C SECTION, WHEN I THINK ABOUT THIS POOR GIRL THAT HAD TO MAKE THIS VERY DIFFICULT DECISION MY HEART BREAKS FOR HER.
WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THIS COUNTRY SINCE BIDEN TOOK OVER IS THE SADDEST THING EVER, HE HAS DESTROYED SO MUCH AND HE IS COULD NOT CARE LESS ABOUT THE CITIZENS OF THIS NATION.
I LITERALLY CANOT STAND HIM AND HAVE NO RESPECT FOR THIS SHELL OF A HUMAN BEING.

  9. When the conservatives re-take the house and senate, they need to round up and kick out each and every criminal illegal alien invader in our country. ALL of them – I don’t care how long they’ve been here, if they broke US law to come to the US, they need to be deported.

Take their dna & keep it on file, so they’ll never be able to come to the US. If they’ve entered the US legally, they’ve proven they have no regard for US laws, and have only regard for their own wants. We don’t need people to come to the US who will disrespect the US laws.
