Members of the Coronavirus Task Force are holding their daily press briefing at the White House Monday afternoon.

The director-general of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said Monday during a press briefing Monday in Geneva that the coronavirus pandemic is spreading at an increasingly rapid pace. Tedros reported the following chilling data on the advancement of the disease across the world:

  • 67 days to confirm first 100,000 cases
  • 11 days to confirm next 100,000 cases
  • 4 days to confirm third 100,000 cases

As of Monday afternoon, there are now 375,538 known cases of coronavirus worldwide, and 16,369 deaths.

Within the past 24 hours, the numbers have started skyrocketing in the United States, to 43,022 known cases and 530 deaths, making it the #3 country in the world for number of reported cases. A total of 117 people have died in the U.S. within the past 24 hours, and 9,456 new cases have been reported.
