Two high school students from Indiana died in a car crash Saturday on their way to the prom.

The students were identified as Hamilton Heights High School senior Kalen Hart and her prom date, Lendon Byram, a student at Cathedral High School, according to reports.

The article goes on to state the following:

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our own… due to injuries sustained in a traffic accident yesterday,” the Hamilton Heights School Corporation wrote. “This is an unimaginable loss to these families and our school community.”

According to the report by the Indianapolis Star, Byram was driving and Hart was in the passenger seat. There were two other teens in the car who had minor injuries and were taken to the hospital and later released.

The person driving the other car that was involved in the crash denied medical assistance at the scene, according to reports.

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Cathedral High School tweeted Sunday, “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart we share the passing of Lendon Byram ’22. Cathedral will have counselors and members of our faith-based community on our athletic/football practice field Sunday at 1 p.m. to gather, grieve, and pray. Rest in peace, Lendon.”

  1. Unfortunately the roads and highways are unforgiving to any and all human errors while driving on them. Hence, it goes without saying that qualified drivers must be careful, respective and attentive on using them.

  2. This hits hard under the circumstances. As a retired teacher, we always prayed harder during the special school occasions to protect all our beloved children/students on the road.
May Byram and Kalen RIP…God Bless them and their families!🙏🏻✝️💕
