Democratic Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar sharply questioned Democratic California Sen. Dianne Feinstein during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearing Thursday. She claimed that her colleague’s statement about federal agencies opposing a bipartisan tech antitrust bill was unfounded.
Klobuchar challenged Feinstein to clarify how she knew that President Joe Biden’s administration was allegedly against the proposed bill. The legislation was supported across bipartisan lines, including by Republican Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, who introduced the American Innovation and Choice Online Act targeting tech companies for allegedly anti-competitive behavior along with Klobuchar.
The article goes on to state the following:
“Are you implying, Sen. Feinstein, that the U.S. government, that the administration is against this bill?” Klobuchar asked. “You just said that federal agencies ‘had concerns,’ and I would like to know if you have some knowledge that I do not know.”
Feinstein responded saying she did not know but was “told that federal agencies have concerns about these provisions.”
Klobuchar said while she interrupted Feinstein, “That is a bold statement. That is a bold statement.”
Feinstein said, “Well, I’m sorry. It’s what I think, and I thought we’re able to say what I have been told that. And you may not like it.”
The Recount tweeted Thursday, “An intense moment as the Senate Judiciary Committee considers a sweeping antitrust bill: Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) goes after Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), whose state is home to tech giants lobbying against the bill, for implying Biden admin. figures privately oppose it.”

Leg leaders are @SenAmyKlobuchar @ChuckGrassley @SenAmyKlobuchar is speaking now, saying success is good but not by harming competition. @MikeLeeforUtah says he can’t support the bill, saying it’s too broad as written. ‘Have to be careful we aren’t creating more of same problems we are trying to address.'”

“@SenAmyKlobuchar fact checks Lee What I noticed: she just included @Microsoft in the Big Tech discussion. California’s @SenFeinstein is clear that she doesn’t support a bill that targets companies in her home state.”

“Wow this Klobuchar – Feinstein exchange is incredible. @TedCruz is focused on the speech issues. He’s doing a very Democratic thing – he’s introduced amendment for private right of action to allow lawsuits against platforms. ‘I am more than happy to unleash the trial lawyers.'”

“@TedCruz votes in favor of the bill, with an overarching message that Big Tech platforms need to be held responsible for moderating content unfairly. Cruz is a big win for the bill’s sponsors. This hearing is fascinating.”

Why donI get the impression that Feinstein wants to defend the Big Tech tyranny over and against the interests of the American people?
Klobuchar wants to run for president so she doesn’t care what outgoing Feinstein thinks. This is your new Democrat Party, left eating the old guard. Frankly I wish the both of them would just go away and leave the Senate to sane people.
Maybe Feinstein is in the pockets of big tech. Maybe Kloberchar is doing the right thing for once. Maybe Dems see Trump platform coming and are going to lump that in with big tech to suppress him and his platform.
Two degenerates going at it…
