A Chicago man with a 3rd-degree Gracie jiu-jitsu black belt pinned an alleged thief who attacked a 7-Eleven employee last week and waited for police to arrive, a local report said.

Idriz Redzovic, who has 22 years of training and owns the Supreme Academy of Jiu-Jitsu in Lincoln Park, was buying 7-Eleven Slurpees for his kids when he noticed a man harassing patrons outside the store, FOX32 Chicago reported.

The article goes on to state the following:

“Once I saw him actually connect and hit the employee in his head, I jumped in, grabbed him like I do in training here, put him down, flattened him like a pancake and then I tied him up like a pretzel in a position called ‘Gift Wrap’ or ‘Twisting Arm Control,’” Redzovic told the station.

Redzovic said, “He comes up to me and says, ‘what are you looking at?’ In my training I tell people to take a step back, hands up, don’t engage unless you feel safe.”

He did record part of the incident on Facebook Live while waiting 18 minutes for police to show up to the store.

According to the report, police arrested the alleged thief, 30-year-old Christopher Cruz, and charged him with two misdemeanor counts of retail theft and battery.

  1. This good samaritan is lucky to be alive and not prosecuted by the district attorney.

DA offices are charging cops and good samaritans at record pace while allowing crooks to walk free or sue. It doesnt matter if you are Bruce Lee; if a punk has a knife or gun, he will kill you.

  2. Flatten him like a pancake and then wrap him up like a pretzel. Hahahaha! Bam! Zoom!
Unfortunately, the good public is going to have to fight crime like vigilantes. Sad but what’s the alternative?

  3. We need more MEN like this guy who sticks up for women and innocent victims. There are way too few heroes willing to help their fellow citizens. God bless him.

  4. The Chicago police department need to hire a lot of men like this man who manned this criminal man at the 7-Eleven store. Good got this guy and the policeman need to be trained to do what this good guy did. God bless him the good guy

  5. Loved how his skill level allowed him to hold the perp while casually setting up his phone and checking the guys pockets. I think he will have a lot of PD’s calling him for training classes.
