The California Highway Patrol reportedly has arrested a driver seen on video speeding through a Los Angeles intersection and causing a fiery multi-car crash that left six people dead, including an infant and a pregnant woman and her unborn fetus.

The driver of the dark Mercedes-Benz vehicle in Thursday afternoon’s incident, identified by police as a woman who is a nurse and is in her 40s, now faces charges of vehicular manslaughter and gross negligence, according to Fox LA.

The article goes on to state the following:

Witnesses at the scene in the Windsor Hills area of West Los Angeles told Fox News that the collision caused a massive explosion that sounded like a bomb and a child thrown from a vehicle landed in a gas station.

“One lady took the baby that was ejected, she was running into the store with the child, but you could tell there was no life there,” Alphonso Word said.

The Washington Examiner reports:

A helpless bystander at a Los Angeles, California, gas station was horrified by the sight of a baby in peril as she witnessed a fiery crash that left six dead on Thursday.

The speeding car on La Brea Avenue slammed into other vehicles driving along Slauson Avenue in the Windsor Hills neighborhood of the city, causing a fiery mess. Steps away from the crash, at a nearby gas station, Veronica Esquival told local TV station KTLA that she was worried the gas station would explode.

“I was about to pump gas, and all of a sudden, I hear all of the noises from all of the collisions, and then the fire explosion, and I saw things, metal and things flying in the air. So I just covered myself behind the pump,” Esquival said.

Pregnant woman Asherey Ryan, her unborn baby, and her 1-year-old son were victims. Esquival saw the 1-year-old get ejected from a car.

“All of the sudden, a baby literally flew from the middle of the intersection to the middle of the gas station and landed right on the floor in front of me,” Esquival said. “One of the workers came and saw me with the baby and took the baby out of my hands. Somebody tried to resuscitate the baby, but the baby was gone.”

Another witness described the horror of hearing the other victims who were trapped in cars.

“I think the devastating part was you heard the scream. I don’t know if it was one of the victims that was in the car burning, or what,” Ward said.

Another witness reported seeing victims screaming and struggling to get out of burning vehicles, Fox News reports.

The collision resulted in six deaths.

  1. So sad what this woman caused, and what condition is she in? I’d call this vehicular homicide. Rest In Peace to all the victims. You are in a much better place than LA and California for sure.

  2. This hits home for me. I’m a professional truck driver. One day I was getting ready to stop at a stop sign and a car came flying the other way at 70 mph in a 35 blowing the stop sign for the cross traffic. She later crashed causing injury only to herself. I later found out that she was a teacher at one of my stops trying to commit suicide by car. Mentally ill or irresponsible people will use anything they can get their hands on to not only hurt themselves but as many innocent lives as they can in the process. Let’s pray that these societal problems can be solved. Prayers for the souls and all those affected by this woman’s actions.
