CNN’s Jeffrey Toobin, who recently took several months off amid a scandal of him own, had a front-row seat on Tuesday when Anderson Cooper awkwardly addressed the suspension of his primetime colleague Chris Cuomo, who was benched amid revelations of his deep involvement in his brother’s scandals earlier this year.
“Some news about this network,” Cooper told CNN viewers after wrapping up a discussion with the network’s top legal analyst, sidelined from last October until June over his Zoom masturbation incident, who was still visible on screen.
The article goes on to state the following:
“It involves Chris Cuomo, the host of ‘Cuomo Prime Time.’ New documents released this week indicated that Chris was more intimately involved than previously known in helping his brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo craft a defense amid a flurry of sexual misconduct allegations,” Cooper said as the camera cut away from Toobin to focus solely on the “AC 360” host.
In a separate report, the Washington Examiner noted that CNN’s decision to suspend Cuomo shortly before his show aired left the network scrambling, as Anderson had to stay on another hour to cover his show.
According to CNN, a town hall about Covid-19 will air Wednesday night, in place of “Cuomo Prime Time.” CNN reported:
The “Cuomo Prime Time” team had been planning for Tuesday’s broadcast up until the suspension announcement around 6:15 p.m. Eastern, a person familiar with the matter said. Cooper’s team was also blindsided by the news and left scrambling to fill the extra hour. After the news was made public, an emotional Chris Cuomo met with the show’s staff.

Executive producer of the Megyn Kelly Show, Steve Krakauer, noted the irony, tweeting, “While announcing Chris Cuomo’s indefinite suspension, Anderson Cooper was sitting next to … Jeffrey Toobin, who returned in June from an indefinite suspension.”

The fallout continues, as CNN is widely mocked for having Toobin present during the announcement.
Damn. Look at this. Cooper was sitting right next to the last big CNN sleazeball to serve a suspension, Jeffrey Toobin himself. And Anderson didn’t turn to his pervy colleague for comment. What a missed opportunity https://t.co/0JkXLd6jSK

…and no one sees the weirdness of having the man who was flogging his dick in co-workers faces comment on another who is also a sexual abuser;how can anyone take anything that CNN does seriously? Anderson Cooper will be forever known as an enabler of perverts.#ResignAnderson https://t.co/3enJRTi0Sj

There’s a certain irony to having a statement about suspending Chris Cuomo come directly after a segment anchored by Jeffery “Lubin'” Toobin. https://t.co/dT8eF3LuuE

Many are surmising that CNN will eventually bring Chris Cuomo back, just as they did Toobin.
Keep in mind that CNN eventually brought Toobin back after he had his hands full on a Zoom call. Don’t be surprised if we see Cuomo back on the air in a few months.

Suspension is not firing – what makes anyone believe he’s not getting the Toobin treatment and will be back on air in a few months?@CNN thinks we are stupid.

Chris Cuomo gets indefinitely suspended for gathering info about his brother’s accusers, but Jeffrey Toobin is still on air after masturbating on a company Zoom call.
The line over at @CNN isn’t just fuzzy when it comes to journalism either.
