Former President Donald Trump is holding a rally in Casper, Wyoming Saturday afternoon, with an end goal of getting Republican Rep. Liz Cheney ousted from office.

Trump is holding the rally in support of Republican congressional candidate Harriet Hageman, who is running against Cheney in the GOP primary. Trump has vowed to do everything in his power to get Cheney out of Congress, and has endorsed Hageman in her race for Cheney’s seat.

Cheney, 55, has served in the U.S. Congress since 2017. She has faced immense backlash over her attacks on Trump, including voting for his impeachment after the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol riot.  The Wyoming Republican Party voted in November to no longer recognize her as a member of the GOP. She was also ousted from her House GOP leadership position last year.

The Wyoming GOP primary will be held on August 16. Politico reported on Friday:

GOP Rep. Liz Cheney is down 30 points in a new survey of her August primary conducted by the Club for Growth, which is opposing the embattled incumbent.

The poll, which provides perhaps the starkest illustration yet of the political peril Cheney faces this year, shows Wyoming attorney Harriet Hageman garnering 56 percent of the vote to Cheney’s 26 percent in the GOP primary. A third Republican got 12 percent support, and just 6 percent are undecided.

Hageman tweeted on Friday, “President Trump is coming to Wyoming to fight back against the establishment and put America First! Together, we will Save America and I look forward to seeing all of you there! Get your free tickets now!”

Trump just spoke at the NRA convention in Houston on Friday, then traveled from there to Wyoming.  He was scheduled to take the stage in Casper at 6:00 ET.

The event in Casper is being held at the Ford Wyoming Center, which holds about 10,000 people.   Large screens are reportedly set up outside for the thousands of others who were not able to get into the arena.

RSBN shared a video clip showing thousands of people lined up for the rally earlier on Saturday:

Other Twitter users are posting photos and videos from the event:

Washington Post reporter David Weigel shared a photo from inside the arena and explained, “There’s a face-mash of Liz Cheney and George W Bush over the rally stage.”

The person who created the Bush-Cheney meme tweeted, “My Bush/Cheney meme displayed above the stage at the President Trump Ralley in Casper, WY 5/28/22.”
