White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany is holding a news briefing at the White House Thursday evening.
The briefing comes one day after President Trump spoke at a “Save America” rally in D.C., then a group of people from the rally went to the U.S. Capitol building, broke into it, and wrecked havoc, in protest of the ongoing congressional certification of the Electoral College votes.
After Congress concluded their certification of the votes for Joe Biden in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday, President Trump released a statement promising a smooth transition of power.
Both Twitter and Facebook have temporarily suspended Trump’s ability to post on his social media accounts.
McEnany said, “I am here to deliver this message on behalf of the entire White House.” She said the violence on Wednesday was “appalling and reprehensible” and added, “We condemn it in the strongest possible terms.”

Amid the violent chaos on Wednesday, President Trump called for peace and condemned the violence. He tweeted, “I am asking for everyone at the U.S. Capitol to remain peaceful. No violence! Remember, WE are the Party of Law & Order – respect the Law and our great men and women in Blue. Thank you!”
